Pang Shiou Fun

Shiou Fun is a dedicated forensic investigator with a strong background in fire investigation. She graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Forensic Science with Honours from the National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, UKM), where she first developed an interest in fire investigation. During her university studies, she was introduced to the fundamental principles of fire science, which sparked her passion for the field. This interest was further nurtured when she gained hands-on experience at the Forensic Department of the Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Malaysia (Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia).

After completing her degree, Shiou Fun began her professional career as a claim examiner in the insurance industry, specializing in medical claims. While this role offered valuable exposure to the insurance sector, she realized that routine office work did not align with her career aspirations. Seeking a more dynamic and challenging path, she transitioned into forensic investigation and joined an international forensic investigation firm.

For the past 5 years, Shiou Fun had focused on fire and explosion investigations, working on hundreds of fire and explosion cases across a diverse range, including structural, vehicle, heavy equipment, and vessel. Her extensive field experience has deepened her expertise in fire and explosion cause-and-origin determination, and has allowed her to build a comprehensive skill set in forensic analysis and investigation.

To further enhance her qualifications, Shiou Fun has obtained several industry-recognized certifications, including the Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) designation from the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), and the Fire Investigation Technician (FIT) certification from the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI).

With a passion for solving complex fire-related cases and a commitment to professional development, Shiou Fun is driven to provide thorough and accurate investigation in fire and explosion cases, ensuring that each case is approached with the utmost precision and professionalism.
